As a scientist, photographer and activist, Vera Brandner works with photographic practice in situations of cultural difference. After completing a diploma in Photography and Media Design, she studied International Development and earned her PhD in the area of transdisciplinary methodology. In the position of the conceptual director of the intercultural art association ipsum, she has implemented projects in Angola, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Israel, Palestine, Uganda, Austria and Germany since 2003. At the same time, she is working on a long-term photographic project focusing on the dialectic tension between the Self and the Other with the title “Picturing Others”. In her most recent project she is working on the identity of spaces.
