Laia Abril is a multidisciplinary artist producing projects across platforms such as installations, books, web docs and films. After studying journalism in Barcelona she attended photography courses at the International Center of Photography in New York. In 2009 she enrolled in a five-year artist’s residency at Fabrica, the Benetton Communication Research Centre in Treviso, Italy, where she worked at Colors magazine. Abril’s book publications include the highly acclaimed The Epilogue (Dewi Lewis, 2014) and On Abortion (Dewi Lewis, 2018). She has received the 2018 Paris Photo-Aperture PhotoBook of the Year Award, the 2018 Tim Hetherington Trust Visionary Award, the 2019 Magnum Foundation Grant, and been shortlisted for Deutsche Börse Photography Prize 2019.
